Beste leerling, geachte ouder(s)/verzorger(s),
Op 21 april heeft het kabinet bekend gemaakt dat de middelbare scholen in ieder geval tot en met 1 juni dicht zullen blijven. We horen medio mei of we vanaf 2 juni onze schooldeuren daadwerkelijk weer mogen openen. Dit betekent dus dat Wolfert Tweetalig in ieder geval in de drie weken na de meivakantie ook nog onderwijs op afstand zal blijven verzorgen.
Wij realiseren ons dat het veel van een ieder vraagt om dit nog langer vol te houden, maar onthoud alsjeblieft dat je dit niet alleen voor jezelf doet, maar vooral ook voor elkaar. We missen jullie aanwezigheid in de school natuurlijk enorm en we hebben inmiddels via meerdere kanalen vernomen dat dit gemis wederzijds is. Dat had je aan het begin van dit schooljaar toch ook niet kunnen bedenken!
Via deze weg willen we nogmaals laten weten dat we ontzettend trots op je zijn (ja, ook op de ouders) en dat het een plezier is om te zien hoe goed het de meesten lukt om gemotiveerd en serieus aan de schoolopdrachten te blijven werken en de online lessen te blijven volgen. Houd dit vol!
Er ligt voor ons een flinke opdracht om de school ‘anderhalvemeterafstand’-proof te maken. Samen met het personeel, de leerlingenraad, de responsgroepen en de oudercommissie nemen we de komende weken de tijd dit goed uit te denken en voor te bereiden. Alle ideeën hieromtrent zijn natuurlijk ook welkom via communicationWT@wolfert.nl.
Daarbij is het belangrijk om alvast te vermelden dat we uiteraard altijd de geldende richtlijnen van het RIVM zullen volgen, want de veiligheid van onze leerlingen en medewerkers staat voorop. Dat betekent dus dat iedereen met lichte verkoudheidsklachten of een kwetsbare gezondheid, of met gezinsleden met een kwetsbare gezondheid ook na 1 juni niet naar school komt en nog steeds vanuit huis zal blijven werken.
De Rotterdamse schoolbesturen hebben op voorspraak van de wethouder een werkgroep opgericht die zich in de meivakantie zal buigen over de bevorderingsadviezen onder deze bijzondere omstandigheden. De werkgroep streeft naar zoveel mogelijk eenheid binnen de Rotterdamse scholen en zal vlak na de meivakantie tot een besluit komen.
Los van dat besluit, streven wij ernaar om alle leerlingen in de week van 18 mei een advies te sturen over de stand van zaken t.a.v. hun overgang naar het volgende leerjaar. Dat is eerder dan andere jaren, omdat we denken dat dit leerlingen meer duidelijkheid geeft over wat er nog te doen staat om over te gaan en welke begeleiding zij daarbij kunnen verwachten. Het doorstroomadvies wordt schriftelijk vastgelegd via een e-mail van de mentor naar hun leerlingen en ouders. Het advies is gebaseerd op alle gegevens die de docenten hebben aangeleverd en de doorstroomrichtlijnen.
Het advies kan zijn:
- Positief: Op voorwaarde dat je prestaties op hetzelfde niveau blijven, kun je naar het volgende leerjaar
- Doubleren tenzij: Op basis van je huidige resultaten kun je niet overgaan naar het volgende leerjaar. Je krijgt van je betreffende docent een (herstel)opdracht die vóór een bepaalde datum af moet zijn en voldoende wordt beoordeeld, als voorwaarde om toch over te gaan. Naast deze opdrachten zorg je er uiteraard ook voor dat je andere prestaties op niveau blijven.
- Negatief: Op grond van je huidige resultaten kun je helaas niet naar het volgende leerjaar. Er wordt samen met jou, je ouders, mentor en teamleider een vervolgplan gemaakt.
We hopen dat met deze brief voor nu alles voldoende duidelijk is. Zijn er toch nog vragen, neem dan contact op met je teamleider. In de loop van de maand mei zullen wij naar aanleiding van de bevindingen van de werkgroep en de vervolgbesluiten van het kabinet verdere informatie versturen.

Dear student, dear parents and/or guardians,
The government announced on 21 April that all secondary schools will remain closed until at least 1 June. We will know mid-May if we can actually reopen the school from 2 June onwards. This means that Wolfert Bilingual will continue to provide digital learning for at least the three weeks after the May holidays.
We realise that this situation is very demanding for all, but please do keep in mind that you are not just doing this for yourself, but also for each other. We miss your presence in the school building a lot and we have been told frequently that you miss going to school too (who would have thought that at the start of the year!).
We would like to tell you once more that we are exceptionally proud of you (and your parents) and that it is a joy to see how well most students are doing: working hard, staying motivated and seriously making the effort to keep up and follow the digital lessons. Hang in there!
We are currently faced with the task of making the school ‘1,5 metres’-proof. Together with all school staff, the student council, the response groups and the parental commission, we will take time to work out a well-designed way of reopening the school. Any ideas you may have are very welcome of course, feel free to send them to communicationWT@wolfert.nl.
In the meantime, we can already inform you that we will adhere closely to the guidelines by the RIVM, because the safety of our students and staff always comes first. That means that anyone with (light) symptoms of a cold, or a generally fragile health, or anyone who has any housemates with a fragile health, will also not come to school after 1 June and will keep working from home.
The various Rotterdam school boards, following instructions from the city’s education alderman, have formed a task force that will use the May holidays to consider passing norms in these unusual times. The aim is to have the different schools in the region agree as much as possible on what the passing norms should be and the task force will reach a decision shortly after the May holidays.
Apart from their decision, we will attempt to send all students a passing advice in the week of 18 May that will detail in what situation they find themselves in as concerns next school year. This is earlier than usual, because we believe it will provide all students with clarity on what they still need to do to pass the year and what help and guidance they may require and expect. This advice will be put in writing and sent by email from the mentor to students and parents. The advice will be based on all data the teachers have provided to the mentor and the passing norms.
The advice may be:
- Positive: Under the condition that your performance remains at this level, you are expected to progress to the next form.
- Repeat unless: On the basis of your current performance, you cannot expect to progress to the next form. The relevant subject teachers will supply you with an assignment to be completed and marked sufficient by a deadline as a condition to still pass the year. Outside of completing this assignment, we expect you to also keep performing well in all other subjects.
- Negative: On the basis of your current performance, you cannot expect to progress to the next form. A separate plan is needed, to be drawn up by yourself, your parents, your mentor and the team leader.
