Het toernooi is in die tijd sterk gegroeid en is nu \u00e9\u00e9n van de grootste debatevenementen in Nederland.<\/p>\n<p>De ingevlogen studentendebaters uit Oxford verzorgden eerst uitgebreide workshops voor de toegestroomde Nederlandse scholieren, waarna er in drie rondes uitgemaakt werd welke Nederlandse teams zich konden plaatsen voor deelname aan de finaledag in Oxford zelf op 10 maart. De leerlingen kregen per debat vijftien minuten voorbereidingstijd, waarna ze hun toegewezen stellingnames moesten verdedigen in Engelstalige speeches over de drie stellingen \u2018All animal testing should be banned\u2019; \u2018Prisoners should be given the right to raise their children behind bars\u2019 en \u2018Citizens should only obtain the right to vote after passing a current affairs test\u2019.<\/p>\n<p>Een uitgebreid juryberaad aan het eind van de dag, waarin de drie Oxford-studenten werden vergezeld door enkele van de meest ervaren studentendebaters uit Nederland, maakte vervolgens duidelijk dat dit jaar vijf Nederlandse scholierenteams zich gekwalificeerd hebben voor deelname aan het hoofdtoernooi. Onder hen waren twee teams van het Stedelijk Gymnasium Nijmegen (Pjotr en Florian; en Cato en Vivian), \u00e9\u00e9n team van het Utrechts Stedelijk Gymnasium (Mila en Sebastiaan), \u00e9\u00e9n team van het Mendelcollege uit Haarlem (Carli en Joshua) \u00e9n een team van gastlocatie Wolfert Tweetalig (Mare en Jack). De organisatie van het Wolfert Tweetalig is erg trots op de banden die op deze wijze onderhouden worden met de debatcultuur in Oxford en wenst alle deelnemende teams heel veel succes in
