Academic Programme

The Rotterdam International Secondary School Curriculum is divided into three components:

° The Foundation Course is for students between the ages of 11 and 13 (international grades 6-8).

° The International General Certificate of Secondary Education (IGCSE) is generally for students between the ages of 14 - 16 years, (international grades of 9 & 10).

° The International Baccalaureate students tend to be between 18-19 years of age, (international grades 11 & 12).

RISS naturally has a dynamic and energetic English Additional Language (EAL) Programme for its students.

Twice a week the school offers support to students through Enrichment classes. This programme is specifically for our Foundation students who require or seek extra help with their subjects after school. Students have access to the Mediatheek, under supervision of the teachers, to work on their homework.

Various subject teachers are on hand to assist the students with the specialized needs of Mathematics, Science, English and the Social Sciences. This programme is mandatory for all EAL students as extra support for their learning.

Presently the school has 210 students from over 48 different countries. Reflecting the fluidity of an international school, we strive to ensure we can accommodate students entering our school throughout the academic year. Admission is based on a case by case basis.
